Whole Urad-1 cup
Chana Daal-1/4 cup
Onion – 1 big
Black Pepper-1/4 tsp
Coriander seeds-1/2 tsp
Coriander powder-1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder-1.5 tsp
Salt to taste
Garam masala-1/4 tsp
For Garnishing-butter,onion,coriander leaves
Wash & soak urad,rajma for 5-8 hours or over night.
In a separate bowl wash & soak chana daal for same time( 5-8 hours or over night.)
In a pressure cooker mix all lentils with a cup of water and pinch of salt then cook for 5-10 whistles.
Heat a wok/kadahi add in oil and butter then add hing/asafoetida.
Crush cloves & pepper in a mortar & pestle,then add it in.
Crush coriander seeds too,then add it.
In a grinder jar add garlic,onion,green chilli,crush it then add in wok and fry it with a pinch of salt till golden brown.
Now make puree of tomatoes,add this into wok,cook till oil oozes out.
Add 1/4 cup of water then add all powdered spices,mix well and cook for 3-4 min.
When masala is done add curd,and quickly stir it otherwise curd will start to separate.And give it a boil.
Finally its time to add cooked daal,add water according to your taste.
Give it a good time to boil around 7-8 min.If you like butter then be generous to add it. 😀
Add garam masala then turn off gas, serve makhani in a serving bowl.
Sprinkle some coriander leaves,garnish with onion & butter.
Serve with chapati,naan,rice etc.
