Bajra Pulao with Vegetables

Enjoy this “Bajra Pulao with veggies”in this winter season. Bajra is known as Pearl Millet. To have Bajra in winter is very good for health benefits.Many people try many varieties of bajra.So friends begin bajra recipes with this Pulao recipe.

Bajra Pulao with Vegetables

Ingredients

  1. Bajra / Pearl Millet – 2 cups
  2. Ghee -2 tbsp
  3. Peanuts -handful
  4. Cashew nuts -handful
  5. Asafoetida a pinch
  6. Crushed black pepper and cloves- 1/2 Tsp
  7. Mustard seeds – 1TSP
  8. Bayleaf -1
  9. Whole red chilli -2
  10. Green chilli Chopped- 1 Tbsp
  11. Curry leaves -handful
  12. Onion sliced- 1
  13. Tomato chopped
  14. Green peas – 3/4 cup
  15. Corn Kerenels  – 1/2 cup
  16. Sliced potato -1
  17. French beans -1/2 cup
  18. Salt as per taste
  19. Tricolour capsicums- 1/2 cup each
  20. Red chilli powder- 1 Tsp
  21. Turmeric powder- 1/2 Tsp
  22. Salt
  23. Coriander powder- 1 Tsp
  24. Lemon juice
  25. Coriander leaves

Method

We will wash & soak Bajra or pearl millet for 3-4 hours.Then Pressure cook it for 2 whistles.They will not turn out to very mushy in texture but pearls will be soft .So we need to drain out water through a strainer.And keep it aside. To check complete process please follow our video recipe.

First we will take a pan add ghee and fry peanuts and cashews till light golden brown.And keep them aside.

In the same pan add asafoetida, mustard seeds, crushed black pepper and cloves, Bayleaf, Whole red chilli, curry leaves , Green chillies and then add sliced onion and cook till light brown.

Add tomatoes fry for couple of minutes then add green peas, sweetcorn, sliced potato,French beans and sprinkle some salt. Mix it well and cover it for 3-4 minutes.

When these vegetables are soft enough then uncover it and add tricolour capsicums.Sprinkle some salt and cover it for two minutes only because we want capsicums bit crunchy.

Now uncovered the pan mix it well & add red chilli powder, turmeric, salt and coriander powder with just a dash of water. After two minutes add Bajra, which is strained  earlier. Mix it well now add lemon juice and coriander leaves.

Mix it well and serve it hot garnished with peanuts and cashew. Enjoyyyy
