Makhana Kheer

Today we are going to share a different variety of usual kheer , that is, Makhana Kheer.

You all know that eating lotus seeds are very healthy.

So many products are coming in market made from Lotus seeds, either baked or fried.

Makhana Kheer


  • 1 Ltr.- Milk
  • 50 gram- Makhana or lotus seeds
  • 3/4 cup – Sugar
  • 1 tbsp – Ghee
  • Chopped Almonds
  • Chopped Cashew
  • Chopped Pistachio
  • Process

Take a frying pan, heat ghee in it then add makhana or lotus seeds.

Fry seeds till they get crunchy. You can check this process in our video.


Now take out from trying pan in a bowl now place makhana seeds into a jar, and then grind them coarsely.


In pan add milk and boil it.

When it is boiling then add lotus seeds powder and cook this for at least 15-20 minutes.

You will notice after 20 min.milk is reduced and kheer’s consistency is getting thick.


At that point add sugar, and mixed well.

Now add dry fruits and turn off the heat and serve hot or cold.

You can adjust dry fruits quantity according to your taste.

You can add cardamom powder too.
