Jain Matar Paneer
- Paneer cubes- 100 gm
- Green peas/matar-1cup
- Oil- 2 tbsp
- Butter – 1 tbsp
- Asafoetida/heeng-a pinch
- Cinnamon sticks- 2 small (1 inch)
- Bay leaves-1-2
- Black pepper & cloves powder-8:4
- Green chillies & ginger-4:1/2 inch
- Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
- Red chilli powder-1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Coriander powder-1 tsp
- Tomato puree-2 (1bowl)
- Pea nuts-handful(1/2 cup)
- Cashews-handful(1/2 cup)
- Sesame seeds-1 tbsp
- Poppy seeds-1tbsp( optional)
- Curd-4-5 tbsp(1/2 cup)
- Besan/gram flour-1 tsp
* First crush green chillies and ginger in a grinder.And keep it aside.
*Again in a grinder make powder of peanuts, cashew, sesame seeds & poppy seeds.
*Heat oil and butter in a wok, add asafoetida, crushed black pepper & cloves.Then add cinnamon sticks and bay leaves.
*When it changes the colour add tomato puree.Add turmeric ,red chilli powder, salt and coriander powder.Mix it properly and cook it till it starts to separating oil.
*Take a bowl add in curd and besan/gram flour.Make a fine lump free paste. Now add this paste into wok and stir quickly.Cook it for 2-3 minutes.
*Time to add peanut powder( we earlier made this).
*Mix it well, cook it 2-3 min.Then add water according to your taste.
*Add in green peas and paneer.Here you can add a pinch gram masala powder. Give it a boil around 5-6 minutes.Add chopped coriander leaves.
*Serve in a serving bowl.garnish with coriander leaves.Here we served with tandoori roti . Enjoyyyy
*Here we used frozen green peas, you can use fresh one too.
*We used gram flour/besan in curd because this process will avoid curdling or lumps in curd.
