Coconut Chutney

Hey Friends,

While we were in south, whenever we ate outside breakfast we used to get yummy coconut chutney as a dip. We always wonder how they make such a tasty dip. So here we have another wonder from south india.

 Coconut Chutney

Ingredients

  1. Coconut – 1 bowl roughly chopped
  2. Sour Curd – 1 cup
  3. Whole red chilli – 2
  4. Pea nuts – 3 tbsp
  5. Black gram(skinless) /
  6. Urad dal – 1 tbsp
  7. Chana dal – 1 tbsp
  8. Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  9. Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  10. Curry leaves – 10 -15
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Water as required
  13. Oil / ghee – 1 tbsp

Process

Firstly dry roast peanuts in a pan, when they are roasted completely take outing a plate.

In the same pan  dry roast chana dal and then urad dal separately, when they changes its colour put them out in a plate.

Put all roasted three ingredients in a mixer jar, and grind them coarsely.And into it add chopped coconut, sour curd, salt and water. Now blend them till smooth texture , in blending time if you require water then add it. Take out chutney mixture into a bowl.

Heat oil in a pan and fry some  mustard seeds, cumin seeds, whole  red chilli, curry leaves, and immediately pour this tadka over coconut chutney.

Its ready to serve. Enjoyyyy

Coconut chutney can be served with any south indian dishes like, Idli, Dosa, Uttapam , Vada etc.

Note:

You can use green chilli and tamarind paste also while grinding chutney.
