Saatvik Khichdi

We are too making Khichdi for World food India 2017.So guys Please check today’s recipe                       “Saatvik Khichdi”. This is a Prasad recipe too, you can find this in temples too. So check my easy method to make this awesome khichdi recipe.Lets be unite to make this recipe today itself. 🙂

Saatvik Khichdi

 

Ingredients

  1. Rice – 1/2 Cup
  2. Half Cooked Moong Dal – 1/2 Cup ( green lentil )
  3. Roasted Daliya / Broken Wheat – 1/4 Cup
  4. Ghee – 3 TBSP
  5. Asafoetida – A Pinch
  6. Cumin Seeds- 1/2 TSP
  7. Mustard Seeds-1/2 TSP
  8. Green Chilli Chopped- 1.5 TBSP
  9. Tomato Chopped- 1 Bowl
  10. Carrot Chopped- 1 Cup
  11. Green Peas- 1 Cup
  12. French Beans Chopped-1 Cup
  13. Salt to Taste
  14. Water – 4-5 Cups ( You Can adjust too )
  15. Turmeric- 1/2 TSP
  16. Garam Masala – A Pinch
  17. Coriander Leaves

For Tempering

  1. Ghee- 2 Tbsp
  2. Black Pepper-6-7
  3. Cloves – 2
  4. Ginger Chopped- 1/2 Tsp
  5. Bay Leaf -1
  6. Cumin Seeds-1/4 Tsp
  7. Mustard Seeds- 1/4 Tsp
  8. Curry Leaves-8-10
  9. Whole Red Chillies-2-3

Process

First step is to soak rice for about 1/2 an hour, and cook moong dal / green lentil for 1 whistle only. In this recipe we are using roasted daliya / broken wheat.

Take a pan and heat ghee. Then add asafoetida, cumin seeds & mustard seeds, let them splutter .Now add chopped green chilli.

Then add chopped tomato , cook it for some time then add chopped carrot , green peas, chopped french beans.Sprinkle some salt & cover it for 2-3 min.

Then open it and add daliya, moong dal & rice. Now add water approximate 4-5 cups of water. ( You can adjust consistency ).

Add turmeric ,salt to taste & garam masala , give it a good stir.Cover it and cook until it’s done completely (follow the video for this step) 👆. This process takes time.But if you wish you can make this khichdi into pressure cooker too.

When khichdi is done ,stir well , sprinkle some  chopped coriander leaves. Mix it well & serve it hot. Put one tsp of ghee when serving. Enjoyyyy

Note:

You can use more vegetables or dry fruits of your choice in this recipe.
